In order to become the best of anything you must believe that you can and you will. No exception… To reach leadership status in any area you must first be willing to grow as a leader.
So becoming the best team leader in your chosen organization is no different. You have to search your inner soul to see if this is a path your willing and able to walk.
There are certain qualities and values a team leader must posse. It doesn’t matter if you weren’t born with them, because you can be groomed into them.
1. Integrity/Honesty: Always represent yourself, the company, and product/service with integrity and honesty. We ALL hate to be deceived into something. Be honest at ALL times and your honesty & integrity will pay off.
2. Trustworthiness: As a team leader you must be trustworthy. Call back when you said you were. Be on time for team meetings and training. Don’t have you team members do things you are not willing to do or haven’t done yourself.
3. Passion: You must have passion and be in love with what you do. People hate to follow behind anyone that doesn’t have passion and isn’t on fire for the cause.
4. Persistence: Becoming the best team leader is a never ending career. You must do it everyday. You have an organization that is depending on you. You must be readily available via email, IM or phone.
5. Personal Growth: Always be willing to grow. Read every personal development book you can get your hands on. Choose a few different motivational speakers to listen to. You MUST attend at least one live seminar a year. Dani Johnson, Ellie Drake, Jeffery Combs and Joe Rubino to name a few.
6. Purpose: You must have a purpose for the cause. Your purpose has to be bigger than you. Like helping single moms stay home with their children. How about helping your family live a better more fulfilling life. Your WHY is what will keep you in the game when your feeling discouraged. Keep your WHY planted in your mind at all times.
Keep in mind your money will follow your skill set. As you grow in the above qualities so will your bank account. Becoming the best team leader is on the rising so never stop growing and never give up.
